Red eyes glittered in the darkness. Jinki stood perfectly still, watching the small figure jumping from rooftop to rooftop without blinking. The brat had slipped from his grasp much quicker than usual, that was unexpected. An amused smirk curled the corner of his pale lips upward. If a game was what he wanted, a game he would get.

Stepping on the edge, he jumped with ease, not glancing down at the pavement several feet below. Jinki wouldn’t fall. Even if he did, it would only slow him down for for a second or two. Keeping his sharp gaze locked on his prey, he followed, every step landing where the boy’s had been. The shadows embraced him like an old lover, keeping him hidden from prying eyes as he picked up speed.

The vampire snorted and let himself fall down into the dark alley, landing nimbly on his feet. The boy was cornering himself and he didn’t realize it. He could turn as many corners as he wanted, Jinki could track his scent from as far away as he was. They could keep this up all night if Hoseok wanted, but the blond had places to be and people to make deals with. Red eyes glowing brighter, the vampire caught up with the half-blood, fingers reaching out to curl into the back of his shirt.

"Just where do you think you’re going?"

The slight draught he created while running like this, the way it made his hair flicker and filled him with energy, it was probably one of the things Hoseok liked the most about this. What he treasured the most about being a “ bastard halfling.” It wasn’t exactly easy to live like he did, he was living proof of a man’s mistake. But after all these years, he had grown used to it. He didn’t have any other choice after all.  But he still valued who he was, treasured his own way of existing and pushed his own limits and played with the darkness that could so easily consume him; that could so easily wipe him off the face of the earth.

Partly, that was what made him let Jinki chase him like this, knowing it wouldn’t last for too long. It was still amusing — thrilling really — to flee the grasp of someone else. He didn’t have that opportunity very often, since he had done a good job when learning how to fit in amidst the Korean population. Wearing contacts and whatnot to make himself less noticeable in a crowd, hiding azure irises from everyone he knew. Everyone aside from Jungkook that was, but that thought didn’t enter his mind at this very moment. The only lingering contemplation was wether to run faster or slow down.

His soles clappered against the asphalt below them, barely having time to turn by the next corner before fingers curl into his his shirt and he stopped, a bit out of breath as he turned around to gaze at the other, eyelids fluttering slowly. “ Away from you. ” He responded almost a bit too cockily, snatching his shirt out of the vampire’s grasp with a smirk, taking a step back. “ Where’d you think I was going?"
